Healing at the Roots of Cystic Fibrosis and Chronic Disease

Welcome! This site is meant to highlight current research and integrative health care information related to cystic fibrosis (CF) and other related chronic diseases that is not well understood by the mainstream medical establishment. I also discuss my own personal experimentations and share my experiences helping others address their health issues. There are many websites and blogs out there with great info, but what I feel makes this site unique its integrative approach to understanding disease, which includes cutting edge science, nutrition, herbalism, and traditional medicine. I try to focus on intermediate and advanced level topics, as I think patients can and should be at least as well educated about their health as their doctors are.
About Me
I am 30-something years old and have CF (double deltaF508 mutations) with CF-related diabetes. I am embarking on a life-long journey of healing. I am also a non-binary transgendered person, and so I use the non-gendered singular pronoun they (to learn more about what this means, click here). In 2012, I had an epiphany about my life (brought on by a medical emergency), made some radical breakthroughs in diet and exercise, and have been researching and experimenting with a passion ever since. I am also currently studying clinical herbalism at the Vermont Center for Integrative Herbalism. It was suggested to me that I share my successes, my experiments, and the information I have gathered with you, the CF community, and anyone else who may also benefit from these insights. My learnings can apply not just to those living with cystic fibrosis, but to others with a variety of ailments who wish to heal themselves at their roots. In many ways, CF has been a great gift, though one with many struggles and hardships. I have gained so much intellectually and spiritually from this disease, and there is no question that it has given me the motivation to live my life to the absolute fullest. This life may be short, but I am going to make the most of it!
How this website works
This website, as of now, will be structured so that my latest research on specific topics will be posted in the Blog along with any personal experiences, recipes, and stories to share. In the section labeled Cystic Fibrosis, I will outline some intermediate-level information about CF and its most important related topics, then go more into depth on those topics in the Blog. In the section called Nutrition, I go into the heart of why I wrote this website - to share what I have discovered about the importance of proper nutrition for CF (hint: it's not what your CF doctors are telling you).
I hope that I can inspire you to do your own research and experimentation, and I encourage you to share with me your discoveries. In addition, we can do research together, so if you're interested in a specific topic, let me know (leave a comment on the blog or Contact Me) and we can explore it. I also offer personal health consultations through my new business, Mythos & Mater.
Donation
If you would like to donate to keep my work going, I would very much appreciate it! Donations will be used to do more research, pay for supplies I need to do self-experimentation, attend conferences, and pay for the costs of maintaining the website. There is a button to donate via PayPal on this page below.
Disclaimer
The point of this website is not to try to replace the treatments you are getting from your CF specialist or other health care provider. The point is to supplement that treatment with important information that you may not be receiving from them. This website is not intended to provide medical advice or treatment, instead it is intended to simply provide you with more information and to create a space for me to share what choices I have made on my own path of self-healing. This website is for educational purposes only, and I do not take any responsibility for any actions that readers may take regarding their health as a result of access to the information that I share. None of the information on this site or in personal correspondences should be regarded as diagnoses or medical advice.
Ultimately, each one of us is our own healer. Yet by sharing information and giving each other support, we can help one another find our paths to healing more quickly.
